Teatri Riflessi 2026 Awards – Living the Schatz Life Wins Best Performance

Four Awards in Sicily

First of all, we would like to thank the festival organization (especially Dario and Valerio) for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful artists this week and to gather new perspectives. We felt very welcome, appreciated and at ease. Many thanks also to the jury, the programmers, the volunteers and the other performers, who made the festival an unforgettable experience for us through encounters and conversations.

We are overwhelmed and so grateful: Living the Schatz Life won four awards at the Teatri Riflessi Festival 2026 in Zafferana Etnea, Sicily!

In their motivation for Miglior Interpretazione (Best Performer), the jury wrote:

For their extraordinary onstage chemistry and the ability to embody the contradictions of contemporary intimacy with precision, irony, and intensity. Through a rigorous and overwhelming physical theatre language, the two performers transform a couple’s conflict into a universal reflection on desires, fragilities, and the dynamics of living together, breaking down the fourth wall.

About the Competition

Teatri Riflessi is an international festival for short performances in Sicily. For its 11th edition, 11 pieces were selected as semifinalists from 539 applications across 60 countries for the International Competition of Performative Shorts; six works reached the final, chosen by a panel of 30 international festival directors, critics and scholars. Performances took place at the Teatro Falcone e Borsellino in Zafferana Etnea, and the festival week drew more than 5,000 visitors.

The festival is organized by IterCulture APS, under the artistic direction of Dario D’Agata and Valerio Verzin.

What Comes Next

Ljubljana (Slovenia): Living the Schatz Life has been programmed for the 2027 season at Centro Španski Borci.
Turin (Italy): The piece was shortlisted for a COORPI residency in spring 2027, which includes creating a dance film mentored by director Alla Kovgan.
