About the Production

As social debates grow louder and positions harden, the performers turn their gaze to the smallest battlefield of human coexistence: the couple. Where intimacy and conflict intertwine, the question arises: what remains after you’ve fought to the bone, perfected love, and theoretically done everything right?

Topics like polyamory, egocentrism, and sustainability are – verbally and physically – humorously dissected in this queer physical-theatre duo. Like Sisyphus, Schatz&Schatz realize again and again: all they really wanted was to fuck – yet they find themselves trapped in an endless cycle of conflict, passion, and the desire to work each other over – literally.

“Living the Schatz Life” is the first, 10-minute version of this duo piece. It is based on a text that was originally developed in the context of a voice exam in the summer semester 2024 as part of the Physical Theatre curriculum. It premiered at Short Cuts 2025 at Folkwang University of the Arts and was subsequently developed further as a work in progress during a residency at CCCC – Creation Center Contemporary Circus, Cologne. This short form later grew into the 45-minute full-length version Schatz&Schatz.

“Living the Schatz Life” is a production by Schatz&Schatz GbR.
